Laganas, which is in the southeastern part of the island (at a
distance of 9 Km from Zakynthos town), is the busiest beach on
Zakynthos, and one of the most beautiful bays on the island.
The beach, 9 km long, is regarded as one of the longest and finest
sandy beaches in Greece and is suitable for most sea sports.
The area offers lively nightlife as you can choose among many
nightclubs and restaurants.
But Laganas is world famous because it is the natural habitat
of the Caretta-Caretta sea turtle. This sea turtle continues
until our days to hatch its eggs on the rather congested sandy
beach of Laganas and of course is protected by European and
Greek Environmental laws.
